The original version of this painting was completed in Feb 08. I decided to revise the painting, on a rainy day, in May 08. You can see the previous version below.
The texture in the mountains is made from coffee grinds glued to the wood. It hasn't rained much this winter in New York, but there has been some rain in February. I like the rain, so it was the inspiration for this painting. I think it also inspired the bright blue and purple.
At the top of the painting is Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Bridge, and Manhattan. There's a two-headed giraffe on the far right side. The sun and moon are common in my paintings. Over the past few months, I have even started adding more than one in some paintings. How many suns are there in this painting?
In the cloud and yellow mountain you will see subway train tracks marked F, A, C, and L representing the trains that cross between Brooklyn and Manhattan.
