Tomatoes are one of my favorite vegetables (or is it a fruit?), and I continue to eat them despite the warnings about salmonella. It's definitely on my mind everytime I eat one. The giraffes ate some tomatoes with salmonella and now they aren't feeling so good.

This painting started off in a completely different direction (see photo below). The black and white color scheme is all that I kept. The patterns along the edges were carried over from two previous paintings (One Green Lizard, Brooklyn Bound), and eventually evolved into a snake. Although the snake could symbolize the dangers of salmonella, or symbolize reptiles as the origin of salmonella, that's really not the intention here. I have been experimenting with space and patterns around the edges of a painting, and this was just another experiment. The snake serves as a decorative frame and sort of completes the painting.
