This painting was done between Dec 06 & Jan 07. I had watched the movie "An Inconvenient Truth" so I believe this is were the smokestacks came from. One of my favorite Christmas time movies is "It's A Charlie Brown Christmas", especially the part with the sad little tree. The tree is to the left of the smokestacks, and has a few bulbs if you look closely. There was a report in January about how it didn't snow in Central Park during December 06 for the first time in over 100 years. The black and white triangles kind of symbolize this.
When I had the wood cut, the blade was dull and caused the top & bottom edges to splinter. I liked the splinters and tried to keep them intact by glueing them in place. Some of the splinters still fell off, so I glued them below the black triangle. It's my favorite part of the painting.
