Mushroom and the Pink House

(Private Collection - New York)

I was not on any kind of drugs while making this painting. Some of the inspiration for this painting came from an exhibit at the Whitney Museum called "Summer of Love". It was a collection of 60's art from San Francisco, New York, and London. Lots of bright, psychedelic colors.

Beyond that, I think it's just a painting about feeling happy. My wife and I moved to New York in July 07 and lived in a poorly maintained hostel for about three weeks.  The hostel was not in a great part of Brooklyn either, so it was a very happy day when we moved into our apartment.  My wife came up with the name and I liked it.
