Where's Bill?

Lost Again
2007 - 19.5"x23"x0.75" Acrylic, colored pencil, charcoal, on found plywood.
Finished with two coats of Krylon Matte Finish #1311
(Private Collection - New York)

Sometimes it is a convoluted path between beginning and end. This painting went all over the place, before I established any kind of direction. Once I added in the blue (lower row, 2nd from left photo), I felt it had some direction.

I liked the animals from my painting "Z00" and wanted to continue experimenting with them. One of my favorite artists is Wosene, and one of his trademarks is a horizontal split across his paintings to create a painting within a painting. I have been waiting for a good opportunity to use this idea, but also wanted to do something a little different. The two scenes are tied together since the animals below are looking for their friend who wandered off. The split also served as a way to further experiment with color vs. black & white.

According to my wife, the goat who wandered off and got lost is me. My sense of direction is really bad, so I'm always getting lost.

There is a 1" cut in the wood on the top edge to the left of the moon. This was a piece of found, scrap plywood.
