The green sun is symbolic of solar power and the general idea of green energy.
I have been in a landscape painting kind of mood lately, so this is another one. I really struggled with color on this one, especially with the sky. I was torn between the leaving it multi-colored & chaotic, or making it all blue. I liked the blue a little better. I had looked at a number of American Indian art books at the library recently, so some of the weird symbols scattered throughout the painting came from that. I think living in the city causes me to daydream a lot about the mountains, and other places I haven't seen lately.

Most pieces of wood have some imperfections in them. The imperfections add a little character and contribute to the overall primitive feel of my artwork. This piece of wood has a 3" long crack that goes through the wood from front to back. I feel it's important to document this in case the painting every becomes valuable some day:)


Since I am from California the crack reminded me of an earthquake fault line, so it's labeled San Andreas fault on the back of the painting.
