This was my first attempt at skateboard art. The boards had a semi-gloss, white finish. I sanded the bottoms using a very rough sandpaper (#18). It really roughed up the surface and created a unique look. You can see the scratches on the left board all over the place. I ended up going with an African Art theme on both boards.

Eyes (left) - What you see is a second iteration on the artwork. I had the board complete and didn't like it. I sanded it almost all the way back to the wood. At one point, I became a little frustrated with the colors, and took several colored pencils in both hands and started scribbling. I really like the look, and will need to experiment further with this. I also took watered down acrylic and lightly spattered it on the board. There are a bunch of little stick figure animals, but not visible in the photo.

Heads (right)- I used watered down acrylic paint, which absorbed nicely into the wood and allowed the scratched up wood to show through. I used the eight mounting holes as eyes for each of the heads. The buildings are Manhattan. There is random scribbling all over the place because it was looking too clean. The heads were looking a little bare, so I added the hair.
